MISSION STATEMENT

The Saint Cecilia Sports Program goal is to ensure that every student has fun in a safe atmoshere while developing athletic skills, good sportsmanship and competitiveness through positive coaching and spectator support.

The Sports Committee will be coordinating cross country, tennis, cheerleading, basketball, soccer and volleyball teams.

We have many goals for the sports year. we want to continue the annual sports banquet. We'd like to have the teams represented in photos for the school's yearbook, sports banquet and sports bulletin board. We also want to continue offering sportsware and candle fundraisers, as well as fall and spring car washes.

We strive to maintain a safe sports program with a strong volunteer coaching base. All coaches and thier assistants must have a BCI check and CAL certification, and must attend a safe environment class.

None of these activities would be possiable without our volunteers. The seven member sports committee meets monthly to plan our many activities. Each member servers at least a three year term.

Who coordinates and insures that the sports program exists at St. Cecilia School?

The sports program is a totally volunteer based program directed by the 7 member sports committee. The sports committee follows the bylaws and communicates plans and goals to the principal and pastor through the chairperson. The members complete a three year term. A term may be extended.

What sports does the St. Cecilia sports program provide?

The sports program offers cheerleading, cross country, soccer, volleyball, and basketball. There has been a fast pitch softball team in the past. There have been attempts to expand into indoor track and bowling, but there has not been enough interest for these sports.

How do I find information about the sports program?

The sports committee strives to communicate the programs highlights through the newspapers, Cougar News and e-mails. There is a sport bulletin board located in the hallway next to the cafeteria with up to date information.

Does the school provide transportation?

Transportation is not provided. Student athletes must provide their own transportation.

How is the sports program paid for?

The program is self-sufficient and is dependent on fees and fundraisers. There are some fundraisers to keep the sports program cost effective, but not too many as to overwhelm the players, families and St. Cecilia Community with fund raisers.

Is financial aide available?

Financial aid is available. Any student who requires financial aid must contact the principal/or the financial director of the sports committee. It is recommended that anyone who requires financial aide assist with fundraising activities or volunteer to assist with the sports program.

Fund raisers include:

Candle sales from November- December

Car Wash in the fall and the spring.

Sports program ads and booster and raffles at the Sports Banquet.

How do I get a St. Cecilia Jacket and sweatshirt?

The sports committee coordinates the sports attire sales. This is not a fundraiser and is offered to the players.

Who coaches the teams?

All coaches are volunteers who are required to complete a background criminal investigation and attend a safe environment class and a coaching certification class. We strive to have a minimal of one coach and one assistant coach for each team.

Do you have a sports banquet?

The sports program celebrates the culmination of the school year at the annual sports banquet on the second or third Saturday of May. It is a celebration of team spirit with a power point presentation, awards, dinner, music, and raffles.
